It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

What I Read Last Week:

The week started out really strong (I loved Good Enough, Somewhere Only We Know, and They Both Die at the End), lagged in the middle with a few indifferent reads, and then ended with more great books! Look for reviews of some of these later this week.

What I'm Currently Reading:

You may recall that I was reading What If It's Us last week, too! It's rare that a book lasts more than one week in my reading life, but I'm listening to the audiobook version of this, and I'm only listening before I go to bed. That said, I rarely listen to audiobooks, and I'm really enjoying this one!

I'm about 30% through Senlin Ascends, and I'm not sure it's the right kind of book for me. I'll read a bit more before deciding whether or not to DNF.

  1. What If It's Us is on my list & somehow I'll get to it. I'm sure it's good. They Both Die at the End is one I've had for a while, still need to read. Hope you enjoy The Westing Game. It's an old one, but students did enjoy it if they wanted a mystery. Thanks, Wendi!

    1. They Both Die at the End is one I've had for a long time too! I finally felt guilty and read it. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I love Lucy Wu, and I always try to make sure she is NOT shelves next to the Darren Shan. Korman is always good, although I had a little bit of trouble believing the set up of The Unteachables. The Westing Game seems to be a love/hate sort of title-- I didn't care for it but both of my daughters count it as one of their favorites. Have a great reading week.

    1. I just googled Darren Shan, his stuff looks way too scary for me! I'm glad you keep him at a distance from Lucy Wu! I didn't care for The Westing Game either, but I have friends who love it. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I enjoyed both What If It's Us and They Both Die at the End. I am an Adam Silvera fan! The Sun Is Also a Star is so beautifully written! I'm hoping to get a copy of Wilder Girls sometime this year.

  4. Nice looking assortment of books. I don't read much YA these days as I am phasing out since retirement. I did look at Wilder Girls but didn't have a spot on my review calendar for it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  5. I enjoyed The Unteachables when I read it earlier this year. I have the Westing Game on my TBR; I've never read it. Girl's Last Tour I've seen the anime but not read any of the books. My weekly updates

    1. I liked The Unteachables too, it's my first Gorman, though I have some of his other books. I heard the anime is great, but I haven't seen it yet. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I only recently began appreciating audiobooks when I do housework. I find that I can easily clean or work in the yard and keep up with all the details of a book at the same time. So YAY! Let's see... I enjoyed both They Both Die at the End (un-put-downable for me) and The Unteachables and I seem to remember my 15 year old enjoyed The Sun is Also a Star. I’m really looking forward to reading Wilder Girls -- hopefully before January. Thanks for sharing all these great titles! #superlatecomment
