A Book for Escargot by Pashka Slater
Synopsis:
It is moi, Escargot, your favorite French snail.
Today I am going on a trip to the library, where there are so many stories to choose from!
Stories about dog superheroes...
guinea pig detectives....
and flamingo astronauts.
But sadly, none of these books is about a daring snail hero who saves the day. What is that you say? Perhaps this is the book about the snail hero? Ooh-la-la!
My Thoughts:
This is such a cute book! Escargot is tired of salads, and wants to learn how to cook some French cuisine! But to his horror, he realizes that he (escargot) is one of the ingredients for a recipe. What should he do?
As you can see, every page is full of cuteness. Escargot asks the readers to help him write a new story, one that helps him escapes unharmed from both the library and aspirational French chefs!
Isobel learned of this book from our local library's story time, and enjoyed it so much, she crafted her own launching pad for Escargot (to aid him in jumping off a stack of books). The text is truly engaging to young readers, and who would have thought that a story about a snail would be so adorable??
