It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

What I Read Last Week:

The Middle Grade Madness challenge ended this week, and my team won! We did a wonderful job. I really hope the group hosts another challenge next year. I participate in a lot of reading challenges, but this was hands down the most fun!

I celebrated the end of the challenge by reading ... more middle grade! It's one of my favorite genres, so it just makes sense. :) I also finished a few books that have been languishing on my Kindle for a long time.

My favorites this week were: Star-Crossed, Braced, The Inn-Between, Braced, and Carry On.

Currently Reading:

Now that the reading challenge is over, I'm trying to work through my library holds and Netgalley ARCs. Both stacks are substantial - wish me luck!

Up Next:

Summer's almost over. My stepson just returned to school, and my daughter will start preschool for the first time next week. Everyone's excited and nervous at the same time! We will all have to get used to our new, more complicated drop-off and pick-up schedule, so I plan on reading a few graphic novels to relax.

What are you reading?

  2. Nice variety of books. I have started A Darker Shade of Magic a couple of time but not gotten more than a couple of pages into it. I guess I haven't been in the right mood. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. I'm reading it very slowly, a chapter or two at a time. It has a slow start, but I like it so far! Do try it again when you're in the mood! Have a great reading week!

    2. I had When Friendship Followed Me Home in a pile for the summer, but the pile was huge and I did not get to it. You both have me thinking to add it to some sort of fall reading list. I had a student that almost took it for summer too, maybe she will read it first and give me a kick in the pants. I will show it to her next week when school is back in. Thanks for the great post!

  6. You have some great books in your list, this week. And I've been meaning to read Carry On forever. I'll probably add that one to my #MustReadin2020 list. My Netgalley ARCs are weighing heavily on me. I like to wait until a week or two before publication to read/write a review, but I suddenly realized I had a pile all being published at once. So I'm feeling the pressure. lol I'd love to join a middle grade challenge group some time -- it's my favorite genre. But even more fun with other reader friends! How did your group work? Have a wonderful reading week, Wendi!
