It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

What I Read Last Week:

My family was on vacation for most of last week, so I didn't get very much reading done! I was too busy! We went to the beach, and did a lot of bird and sunset watching. Now that we're back home, I'm trying to unpack and get our house back in order!

A good chunk of what I read last week was for the August reading challenge, hosted by Middle Grade Madness on Goodreads. Middle grade books are one of my favorite genres, so I'm always happy to delve into my MG TBR.

  1. Most of your books are new to me. I did get a review copy of Caterpillar Summer and enjoyed it much more than I expected to. I don't read much YA/Middle Grade contemporary these days. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  2. I love, love, loved both Caterpillar Summer and Sweep. And Scar Island was an INCREDIBLE audiobook — such a great narration and a great deal of spookiness! I’m very much looking forward to getting my hands on Be Prepared. I hope you enjoy it too, Wendi!

    1. Oh, Scar Island sounds great on audiobook, I'll have to do a reread sometime. I like Sweep a lot, so far! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I really enjoyed Scar Island as well. I took a bit to get into Sweep but it just got better and better. Be Prepared was really good too. I am hoping to get to Caterpillar Summer and City of Ghosts soon. The latter before the whole series is done! Thanks for the great shares, have an excellent reading week.

  5. What beautiful photos! Sounds like a nice vacation :)

I LOVED City of Ghosts! Can't wait for the sequel next month! I enjoyed Scar Island, too, though I liked some of Gemeinhart's other MG novels even more, especially The Honest Truth.

Looks like a great reading week for you - enjoy your books this week, too!

  7. I'm impressed that you enjoy middle level books so much. I teach 7th grade (pre-algebra) and being around that age group of kids I know how great it is for them to find good literature.

    1. My stepson is ten and a middle grade reader, and it's fun to find great books to read together. Honestly, I'll keep reading once he goes on to YA, though. There's some gems in the middle grade genre! Thanks for stopping by!
