It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
What I Read Last Week:
It was another slow book week for me. My four year-old started preschool for the first time, and we're still adjusting to the new schedule. I miss the languid days of summer! That said, I did get around to a few books that have been on my TBR shelf for a long time: Doctor Sleep and Legendary. Even better, I enjoyed both (although the ending of Legendary made me grumpy)!
Currently Reading:
I'm dipping my toes into the world of audiobooks with Kasie West's By Your Side. It sounds like a fun read, and perfect for taking along on walks.
Up Next:
Two of my highly anticipated reads were recently published. I'm so excited to start reading both novels!
What are you reading?
Hi Wendi. If six books is a slow week, I'm looking forward to seeing what you read on a regular week. I'd also love to know what about Legendary made you grumpy. I'm really enjoying that series and hope there will be many more of them. I started Finale at a book store over the summer and still need to get it to finish the rest.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just didn't like the way Legend acted at the end of that book. He's being a jerk! I'm excited to start Finale, I heard that it gets better. Have a great week!
DeleteNice assortment of books. I hope you enjoy The Testaments. I've heard mixed reviews. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too, The Handmaid's Tale is one of my favorites. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy!
DeleteInternment was really scary considering all that has been happening in the US. We say something like that could never happen after being aware of our history, but it really depends on who has the power. And our library just got a copy of Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me — I’ve been wondering if this one was good. I agree with Stacy on your comment of six novels being a slow week. Wow! With my five children keeping me busy, it's a wonder when I finish more than 3. Thanks so much for the shares, Wendi!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Internment was terrifying. It was a very important read, though. I liked Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, it was a four star read for me! And I can't imagine having five kids, my two are chaos (in a good way, of course) enough!! Have a good week, Shaye.
DeleteI just got Pumpkinheads, I can't wait to see how the two authors come together to write this story!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great book, so cute and perfect for autumn! Hope you enjoy it!
DeleteThe cover of Malamander looks very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteIt was a really fun, nautical middle grade read. I recommend it!
DeleteI loved Legendary. Although yeah...that ending...
ReplyDeleteGreat list. A few of these caught my eye based on the covers and I am about to go look into them. Hope you have a good, smooth week!
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I hope it all ends well in Finale, grrr. Have a great week as well!
DeleteI still can't seem to get to Internment, but really want to. I also have Malamander & will read it soon. I've noted your others, like Pumpkinhead, will get to it soon, imagine it being very good! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePumpkinhead was great, very cute and appropriate for fall! I enjoyed Malamander as well. Have a great week.
DeleteI hope you enjoy your new reads!
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week
Looks like a good reading week. I hope your preschooler enjoys the class!
